Car rider and walker procedures

CAR RIDER AND WALKER PROCEDURES

To make Car Rider procedures safe and efficient please abide by these procedures for morning and afternoon drop off/pick up:
1. When entering the Davies Elementary School Campus, Kindergarten through 5th Grade Car Riders must enter from Judge Perez Drive and drive down Paul Drive. You must turn left at the first sign. No cars are allowed to turn right. You must then continue around the school buildings and enter the cafeteria parking lot in only one direction. After you pick up your child, you must exit the parking area only where the “exit only” sign is located.
2. There is only ONE lane of traffic for dropping off/picking up students. Please do not attempt to let your child out of the car before reaching the DROP OFF point. ALSO, DO NOT IN FRONT OF THE CAFETERIA. ping there is dangerous to your child and other students. Move your car forward all the way to the gate! Also, when picking up your child in the evening, YOU MAY NOT PARK and PICK UP YOUR CHILD. You MUST stay in the car rider line. The only parents allowed to walk and pick up students are those considered walkers because they live on Najolia with no provided bus service. However, they need permission for this to happen. Walkers’ passes MUST be obtained from Mrs. Glapion and presented each day during pick-up. Safety of all children is our paramount concern.
3. Have your child enter and exit the vehicle from the right side, only. This is the side of the vehicle closest to the cafeteria.
4. Please make sure your child is ready to exit the car in the morning as soon as you reach the DROP OFF point. This is not the time to have your child pack his or her school bag, put on shoes, or put on jackets.
5. Buses will enter by driving down Paul Drive and into the BUS LOADING CIRCLE at the front of the school. The buses will exit by continuing back onto Paul Drive and then onto Judge Perez Drive.
6. If your child is a car rider and wants to eat breakfast, he/she must arrive at school no later than 8:20 a.m. This will be strictly enforced.
7. All car riders must arrive by 8:30 a.m. At 8:30 a.m. sharp, our duty teachers must go to their classrooms. At that time, the cafeteria doors are shut and locked for security reasons. After 8:30 a.m., the parent/guardian must park and walk the child to the office to check in. A child is considered tardy after 8:30 a.m. and will not be allowed to eat breakfast.
8. Parents are not allowed to walk their children to the classrooms. This is a procedure we enforce for a smooth morning and to ensure the safety and security of our students and staff.
9. Pre-K car riders, along with Day Care van riders will enter by driving down Paul Drive from Judge Perez Drive. These cars will then turn left onto Mistrot Drive and then right onto Nunez Drive. On Nunez Drive cars will enter into the Pre-K Car Rider area. Once the Pre-K students are safely unloaded at the door, the cars will leave by taking a left back onto Nunez Street and then another left onto Mistrot Drive. Take another left onto Paul Drive and going towards Judge Perez. ALL CARS MUST TURN RIGHT AT JUDGE PEREZ DRIVE.
10. ALL CAR RIDERS MUST HAVE A PICK UP PASS WINDOW LABEL prominently displayed in their front car window for easy identification. These will be handed to you at the car drop off area by duty teachers the first day of school. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ONE FOR EACH VEHICLE USED TO PICK UP YOUR CHILD FROM SCHOOL. THIS IS EXTREMEMLY IMPORTANT FOR OUR STUDENTS’ SAFETY.
11. Please follow the established one way traffic routes for ease and safety. The Crossing Guard will be on duty to assist with traffic flow. Please obey all traffic signs and Crossing Guards, as well as speed limits.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THE CHANGE IN THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC LEAVING DAVIES. ALL TRAFFIC GOING SOUTH ON PAUL DRIVE TOWARDS JUDGE PEREZ DRIVE MUST TURN RIGHT! NO CARS ARE ALLOWED TO GO STRAIGHT ACROSS THE THE MEDIAN! YOU MAY BE TICKETED FOR DISOBEYING THE TRAFFIC SIGNS!
Thanks in advance, for your cooperation in Keeping our Davies Pelicans safe!
